SPY GUIDE –

Our 8-point training guide to become a successful spy! Top tips to complete your mission.

Newspaper Exchange

If you have to do one! Observe the contact and approach him/her only when he is seated, exchange information with a Sun newspaper!

Remember to wear your team hat for the exchange. Whatever he gives you, work it out and upload it to us using the Spy Inc website and your Mission Access Code.

Coded Box

If you get one - a coded ‘street’ box can be solved by entering the correct answers in each space. Spies often do this in two parts and take the form of a street address and a solution box to decode.

Example: Decode this message: A1, B2, B3

1 High Street

4 Victoria Street

If you went to 1 High Street it would be the shop Next and 4 Victoria Street BHS etc…

I.e. Next would fit in the Box so would BHS. Therefore Solution Code A1,B2, B3 = NHS

Compass Clues

Spies often use compass clues to code a message. These usually come in the form of a compass bearing and a written or verbal clue, like on a Dictaphone. Look down the bearing using your Spy binoculars and complete the clues to decode the message. Like in a coded box above.

Dictaphone Clues

Usually a set of clues along a route to a final destination or question - these are simple to follow if you know the starting point!

Laptop Footage

If you see a Spy contact with a laptop be prepared as he is going to show you a safe route to a rendezvous or location but they will only show you once.

Passwords – very popular so don’t forget them.

Surveillance and Initiative Test

All teams can earn extra points i.e. 5 minutes/picture off your final time, if they clearly photograph another team making an exchange, wearing a team cap. You can also earn 5 minutes off final time per item recovered in the Spy Initiative Test. Hand these in clearly marked with your team name in a plastic bag.
